Our forum is all about people. Real people, real Iowans, and folks from across the Midwest asking hard questions drawn from hard-won experience.
These are our members: folks like Barb Kalbach and Chris Simmons, who will ask the questions every presidential hopeful must answer if they are up to the task.
Barb is the board president of Iowa CCI Action. She's also a fourth-generation family farmer and registered nurse, so she’s seen rural America become a healthcare desert. She knows firsthand why we need Medicare for All, now.
Chris is a member of Iowa Student Action. He grew up in Newton, once the “washing machine capital of the world” until Maytag closed shop and moved production to Mexico. Chris wants to know how candidates will deliver College for All, and meaningful jobs in a sustainable, green economy.
Barb, Chris and other People's Action members will ask candidates about real solutions for family farms, immigration, worker’s rights, our housing crisis and more.
Real people are the ones who know best what our country needs to address the real problems they - and we - face right now.
Big social change – the kind that can change a president, and fix our unprecedented problems – has to come from the ground up, not the top down. It’s up to us to make that happen.
The Iowa People's Presidential Forum is, in essence, people power in action. At Iowa CCI Action and People’s Action, People Power is a way of life: it’s how we get things done.
Executive Director, Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement (CCI) Action
