Dear John,

Our monthly donor drive is officially over, and we came so close to meeting our goal of 150 new monthly donors — will you help us get there, John?

We’re only 10 people short of achieving our goal, so we’ve extended our deadline to midnight tonight: speak out against injustice, defend human rights and save lives with us. Become a monthly donor today.

We need your committed support and generosity now more than ever. All over the world, people are being locked up for speaking the truth, are facing violence and intimidation and are being denied their essential human rights.

China is still targeting Uyghurs: one million predominantly Muslim people are being arbitrarily held in detention camps in China.

#EndSARS peaceful protestors in Nigeria, demanding an end to police brutality, executions and extortion, are being met with excessive force. At least 12 peaceful protesters were reportedly shot dead when the army opened fire on them last month.

The Rohingya people are still displaced and are still prevented from participating in the decisions that affect them, including those related to the COVID-19 response and healthcare service in refugee camps.

Peaceful protests against electoral violations in Belarus, largely organized and led by women, are being met by police with beatings, arrests and torture.

And Canada is still turning refugees back at the U.S. border, still refusing to recognize the inherent, treaty, constitutional and human rights of Indigenous peoples that guarantee a vibrant future, and — STILL — Black, Indigenous and people of colour are being wrongly arrested, mistreated or killed by police in communities across the country.

How do we change any of this, John? By coming together, by resisting together and by standing strong together. Join us right now with a bold act of hope and solidarity: please become a monthly donor today.

Thank you for taking action. Thank you for fighting for a world where we can all live with safety and dignity.

With gratitude,

Irena

PS: We can’t do this without you, John. Together we’ll speak out against injustice, take care of each other and create much-needed change. Please join us as a monthly donor today and we’ll send you an Amnesty International branded face mask to say a big thank you!

If you’re already a monthly donor, we may have multiple records on file for you so please ignore this message. Thank you for your ongoing support!
