John,

Election Day is finally here, and I think for many of us, it comes as a great relief. Finally, we will begin to count the votes to end the Trump presidency and steer our country in a new direction.

I’m writing to you now because I hope you’ll continue to support me and if you live in the district and haven’t voted early, that you will cast a vote for me on this historic day.

Millions of Californians have already cast their ballots but every single vote matters! If you’ve already voted: Thank you. If you’re waiting until Election Day to make your voice heard in this crucial election, click here [[link removed]] to find your polling place or ballot drop-off location. As long as you are in line by the time the polls close at 8 p.m., you can vote!

Over the last two years, I’ve played two critical roles. First, I’ve fought back against the reckless, dangerous policies of the Trump administration. Second, I’ve forged ahead and made real progress on some of our most important priorities.

As President Trump has threatened our civil rights, rolled back environmental protections, politicized natural disasters, attacked health care for millions of Americans, and abused immigrants and asylum seekers, I have worked with my Democratic colleagues in Congress to do everything in my power to limit the damage from this disastrous presidency — and to advance our priorities.

Defending our rights, freedoms and democracy from Donald Trump has been a major part of my job, but we’ve done a lot more than just that. I’ve cosponsored landmark bills that have already passed in the House, including legislation to reduce prescription drug costs, ensure net neutrality, prevent gun violence, guarantee LGBTQ rights, protect DREAMers, expand voting rights, and much more.

As chairman of the subcommittee on Water, Oceans and Wildlife and a member of the Select Committee on the Climate Crisis, I’m also leading the fight to protect our environment, expand clean energy, and confront climate change, including introducing bipartisan bills to keep the United States in the Paris Climate Accord, ban new offshore drilling, and protect the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

Donald Trump and the GOP have done an enormous amount of damage to our nation, but we can and will recover. That’s why we must always press forward and keep working toward our goals, and that starts with this election. One day, hopefully very soon, Trump and his enablers will be gone and we’ll get back to the work of building a more perfect union.

I would be honored to continue representing California’s 2nd Congressional District. Please make a plan to vote.

Thanks for your tremendous support,

Jared
