Dear Friend,

This morning I walked by my neighborhood polling place in Chicago, where there was a line of voters down the block. Whether you too are standing in a line to cast your vote today or you've already voted, I want to thank you and to share how important this right is to everyone at the Young Center.

Today, Young Center staff have the day off work. We want those who can to exercise their right to vote when so many people face voter suppression and disenfranchisement. Many of my colleagues are volunteering their time as poll watchers, to help escort voters to the polls, and to staff non-partisan voter protection hotlines. But we’ve encouraged everyone just to take time to care for themselves, their friends, and their families as we head into the coming weeks and months. We hope you will do the same.

No matter the outcome of this election, you can be sure that we will continue fighting for the rights of immigrant children and building a more welcoming America.

Thank you,

Maria Woltjen
Executive Director

The Young Center for Immigrant Children's Rights works with the most vulnerable unaccompanied and separated immigrant children so their voices are heard and their best interests are protected. We also advocate for an immigration system that treats children as children. To learn more about our work, visit theyoungcenter.org or follow us on social media. Click here to donate.
