Hey John,
Love, support, and community-building are essential to making a change in the world. Join us at this week's very special Meetup: Stories from the Community where we will be hearing from Susana Chavez, Ruth Preciado, and Manuel Rodriguez-Ruiz , all incredible animal rights activists with beautiful and empowering stories. Every Saturday at 11am we have Meetups for everyone and anyone who cares about animals and making the world a better place! Don't miss it!
Here are the other events we have happening this week (all taking place at the Berkeley Animal Rights Center, 2425 Channing Way, unless otherwise noted). Action events are colored in blue and community events are colored in orange -- both are crucial to our movement!
- Monday, September 16th, 7:30pm: Work Party for ALCC - The Animal Liberation California Convergence is only two weeks away and we need your help to make placards and paint banners for the March for an Animal Bill of Rights! Come hangout and help prep for an epic action!
- Thursday, September 19th, 10:00am: Tabling and Chalking Outreach at Sproul Plaza - Direct Action Everywhere (DxE) is mobilizing a social justice movement and empowering folks to take nonviolent action for animal rights. DxE will continue to grow and we need YOU to help us make that happen! We will be tabling and chalking on the sidewalk outside of Sproul Plaza from 10am - 1pm. There will be a canopy set up with tables, chalks and flyers. NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED. All forms of participation welcomed and appreciated!
- Saturday, September 21st, 1:00pm: How to Change the World in One Generation - DxE Intro Workshop - Learn about Direct Action Everywhere's bold plan to change the world for animals in one generation in this interactive workshop created by DxE co-founder and former Northwestern law professor Wayne Hsiung. Learn about the history of social movements, the ground-breaking new research that shows the power of ordinary people, and get tips on how to become a master communicator on animal rights and other issues. This interactive workshop will give you the skills to become a more confident and purpose-driven advocate for animal rights.
- Saturday, September 21st, 2:00pm: Pigeon First Aid: September - Every day there are hundreds of birds throughout the city of San Francisco who have strings and hair tightly wrapped around their toes, causing immense pain. Eventually their toes lose circulation, become amputated, or develop severe infections. We can help our bird friends by removing the string before the damage becomes too serious, providing medical care, and releasing them back to their flocks! We will be meeting in front of The Strand Theatre in SF, at 1127 Market St, San Francisco, CA 94103.
- Sunday, September 22nd, 11:00am: Chicken Rescue Training - This training is designed to give you the skills you need to care for hens in a rescue situation, as a foster, or as a microsanctuary director. We want to empower everyone in our community with the knowledge to give care to animals directly. There will be valuable information for both veteran and novice caregivers
