Stop the Trump administration from allowing religion to be an excuse to discriminate.

Tell the Department of Labor:
“Don’t allow employers with federal contracts to discriminate based on religious beliefs. The DOL’s proposed rule violates our values of equality for all.”

Friend,
The Trump administration has proposed a disastrous Labor Department rule ― under the guise of religious liberty ― that would open the door to taxpayer-funded discrimination against the very people the executive order was intended to protect.
The proposed rule is open for public comment until midnight ET tonight. Let’s make it clear to the DOL ― and the entire Trump administration ― that we will not allow discrimination to creep back into the workplace. Add your name. Let’s stand together, join our partners at the ACLU and make our voices heard! ([link removed])
Religious freedom is a fundamental American value and it should never be used to harm or discriminate against others. The Trump administration, however, is trying to roll back protections against discrimination, supposedly in the name of religious freedom.
Even more reprehensible, if this proposal is enacted, our federal government would be legally allowed to contract with companies that engage in discrimination.
What Would the Proposed Rule Do?
The DOL rule proposal would give government contractors permission to discriminate against workers if they determine the employees are living their lives in a manner contrary to the religious beliefs of the employer.
That means the Trump administration's DOL proposal would make it easier for employers to discriminate against their workers for being transgender, being married to someone of the same sex, using birth control, or failing another arbitrary “religious” litmus test.
People who work for firms that receive federal contracts are not a small subset of America’s working population. The proposed rule would affect around one-fifth of the American workforce and could harm countless workers.
According to Politico: “The Labor Department proposal follows a string of Supreme Court decisions that protected business owners’ rights to refuse service to gay customers in some circumstances and to opt out of coverage for employees’ birth control, and that expanded churches’ ability to qualify for government funding.”[1]

We must join together, and defeat this proposed rule. Tens of thousands of Americans have already submitted official comments calling on the DOL to reject it. Take a moment today and add your name! ([link removed])
This is our message to the Trump DOL: Reject the proposed rule allowing employers with federal contracts to discriminate based on their religious beliefs. The rule violates our values of equality for all.
Rather than fulfilling its mission of preventing employment discrimination, the Trump administration’s proposal would actually fund discrimination with taxpayer dollars, allowing government contractors to sidestep civil rights policies and opening the door to discrimination in all our workplaces.
EPI is proud to join this fight. Together, we will ensure working families can earn a fair wage and are not subject to workplace discrimination. Thank you for all that you do to demand an economy that works for everyone.
In solidarity,
