Sometimes the hardest part of helping children who are struggling is figuring out what’s going on with them. They may be reluctant — or unable — to tell you what they’re feeling. And, in fact, they often don’t know why they’re behaving the way they are. It’s all too easy for common symptoms of emotional distress or behavior problems to be misinterpreted.

This week we’re rounding up resources on how to make sure you get an accurate diagnosis ([link removed]) for your child and avoid common misdiagnoses ([link removed]). Knowing what to look for when your child is being evaluated, and what to steer clear of, can be crucial to getting them on the path to successful treatment.
