ELECTION DAY RESOURCES

Dear Friends,

Today is Election Day!  Your voice is your vote and every vote counts. Every individual who is eligible should get out and vote. If you have not already voted, there are a few things to keep in mind:

First, we are still in a pandemic.  Your polling place will have made some accommodations to keep you safe, but continue to follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines. Please wear a mask and social distance when possible.

Second, different counties have different options for how to vote.  Some counties may provide accommodations for people at high risk for the virus or who are movement impaired.  If you still have a mail in ballot that you have not submitted, you can drop them off at your county's ballot drop box or Board of Elections.  At then end of this newsletter, you will find the election websites for each county in the 15th District of Texas with information on how to vote.

Third, make sure to bring a valid form of ID. This includes a driver's license or passport, but the full list can be found here. If you cannot provide an ID, you can fill out a Reasonable Impediment Declaration as long as you have some identification like a birth certificate or a utility bill. A provisional ballot is also available if you do not have your ID on the day of the election, but you'll need to make sure to present your valid photo ID to the county in the following days.

Fourth, do not vote twice.  If you have already submitted a ballot by mail that will be received by Election Day, or have already early voted, you should not go vote today.  If there are two votes under your name, it can invalidate them both, and you can be charged with voter fraud.

Finally, DO NOT GET OUT OF LINE. If you are in line when polls close at 7 p.m. CST , you are still allowed to vote. Make sure to stay in line until your ballot is cast.

This is one of the biggest elections in modern American history. The choices we make today will affect the lives of our friends, families, and neighbors for years to come.  Make sure you have a plan to vote and encourage others to vote!
