Dear John:
We’ve waited four years for this moment.
Over the course of the election season, over 1,500 hotel housekeepers, dishwashers, cooks, and casino attendants led the largest union door-to-door canvassing operation in the country.
Thanks to their hard work in the battleground states of Nevada, Arizona, Florida and Pennsylvania, unprecedented numbers of Americans voted early and cast ballots by mail.
Now, we must ensure that each and every voice is heard.
There’s still time for each of us to do what it takes to win this election. Can you contribute to help us get to the finish line?
Between this historic voter turnout and the necessary steps to ensure the integrity of our ballots, we understand that it’s not possible to declare a winner tomorrow night.
Among the voters in those turnout numbers were young people, Black people, immigrants, and first-time voters — many of whom had to overcome unacceptable barriers to exercise their most fundamental right as an American: the right to vote.
So, in honor of those voters — and in honor of the hard work of the 1,500 UNITE HERE members who knocked on 2 million doors to help ensure these voices are heard in the most important election season of our lives — let’s continue to stand together and make sure every vote counts.
We knew from the beginning that this election was never about a single day. This is about winning the fight to take back our country. This is about us. And we are winning.
Donate today and together, we can Take Back 2020.
In solidarity,
D. Taylor
UNITE HERE International President
P.S. In the coming days, we may need to call on YOU to help us ensure that every vote is counted. Stay tuned!
