The Journal of Theoretical Biology tried to trash its own paper because it was friendly to intelligent design. Intimidated by the censors, they placed a disclaimer on it making it appear that the penitent editors had no idea that they had published a peer-reviewed paper favorable to ID.

“The difficulty today is that there are certain cultural movements, some of them coming from Marxism, some of them coming from elsewhere, that are reversing the idea of a university,” explains Oxford professor John Lennox. “They are forbidding free speech and de-platforming people and saying that the students mustn’t be exposed to this idea or that idea.”

The logic of consensus, if granted, has the power to shut down discussion of any new idea, resulting in a suffocating conservatism. If it had been maintained consistently across the history of science, we would still believe numerous fallacies held by a consensus of thinkers in the past. Science would truly be stuck.

Richard Dawkins has just had his invitation to Trinity College Dublin rescinded. I think Dawkins is wrong about a great many things, but cancel culture destroys truth-seeking.

Critics of intelligent design need to drop the claim that ID gets a fair evaluation from science journals. It certainly does not. That ID scientists have come as far they have, overcoming a wall of discrimination, is a remarkable tribute to the strength of the design evidence.
