John,
Tomorrow is a day that will collectively impact our futures:
Election Day 2020.
To put it simply,
not a single one of us can afford to sit out this election. There is just too much at stake. We vote because the Black Vote needs to be more than a debate talking point -- we deserve laws and policies that empower our communities.
If you believe Black Lives Matter, then you must vote. If you haven't yet (or you know someone who hasn't), please use our voter portal to make your plan to vote tomorrow.
Our Ancestors put their blood, sweat, and tears into fighting for the right to vote. They understood how important it was for Black Americans across the country to have a voice in our democracy.
This year, we lost Congressman John Lewis, a civil rights giant and voting rights champion. John Lewis was one of those people that put his life on the line for our right to vote. By casting our ballots, we not only honor him and what he dedicated his life to, but we honor ourselves and our presence in this country.
Black liberation is in our hands, and it's vested in who we elect to represent us. The Black vote means something important, and we need to utilize our power to ensure that we vote for policies and representation that push our communities forward. Black Votes Matter because Black Lives Matter. Period.
Nearly 87 million Americans have already voted in this election. If you're one of them, we need you to check in with your community and make sure they vote too. If you haven't, we're here to help.
Use our voter portal to make your own plan to vote or to help your cousin, your sister, your neighbor, or your group text to make a plan.
If you run into issues voting, please call the voter protection hotline at 866-OUR-VOTE or for Spanish speakers 888-VE-Y-VOTA.
Power to the people. Power to the polls.
In love and solidarity,
Black Lives Matter Global Network
