It is anyone's guess what the election will bring us tomorrow.

But while those results are still uncertain, here’s something I know for sure—everyone at the National Women’s Law Center, and this amazing community we’ve built together, will keep fighting for gender justice, no matter what. No matter who wins (which we might not know for a while), we will have to hold our elected officials accountable. We need to be ready. Here’s what we’re preparing for as we look ahead: [[link removed]]

We already know Roe is at risk. But too many people have already lost abortion access because of state laws that target abortion—and those could increase after the election. Abortion opponents have spent the last four years passing new abortion restrictions at the state level and stacking the courts with anti-abortion judges to uphold them, and we’ve seen the effects all over the country. Help us protect abortion access.

Women of color and their families are still the most affected by the economic impact of the pandemic. No matter who wins the election, NWLC will keep fighting to ensure that the needs of the most vulnerable are centered in COVID recovery efforts. Front-line workers are disproportionately women, especially women of color, and the pandemic has laid bare how much our society simultaneously depends on these workers and undervalues them. Make a donation to help support women in low-income jobs who are still on the front-lines of this pandemic.

Access to health care is on the line. Right after the election, the Supreme Court will hear a case that could decimate the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and its protections for women and all of us with preexisting conditions. But no matter what the court decides, we’ll never give up until everyone has the health care they need. Help support our fight for low-cost, comprehensive, accessible health care for all.


Our child care system is terribly flawed. The pandemic has only underscored that both families and child care providers have suffered the consequences of chronic underinvestment. We know that access to high-quality, affordable child care is the key to our economic recovery. Without a significant public investment, more child care programs will close permanently, women will be forced out of the workforce, and families will feel the long-term economic impacts for years to come.
