Dear John:

We’ve called and texted voters, written postcards, donated, marched, rallied, retweeted, and called and texted some more to defeat Donald Trump, flip the Senate, and hold the House.

TOMORROW is the last day to vote, and encourage others to vote, in what sure feels like the most important election of my lifetime. What happens next is up to us.

We’ve seen the polls that show a strong likelihood of a Biden victory, but after 2016 it’s hard to trust them. We’re worried about voter suppression and about the prospect of Trump not leaving office even if he loses. We’ve read the scenarios about what could happen if he refuses to concede. But none of us know what is going to happen.

What we do know is that -- no matter what happens -- we’ll keep fighting for a better vision: one where everyone has the support they need to get through the Covid-19 crisis, where everyone has affordable health care, where public education is funded like it deserves, where we are working together to transition to a green economy with good jobs for all.

Here’s the plan:

• Vote and make sure everyone you know does. Polls are open from 6 AM to 9 PM tomorrow. Look up your poll site here [[link removed]] . You can return your absentee ballots at any poll site (and tracked here [[link removed]] ). I hope you’ll join me in voting on the Working Families Party line (Row D) to help save and strengthen New York’s progressive political party.

• Make one last GOTV effort. I’m finding it a good way to manage my anxiety -- so much so that I’m headed down to Philadelphia tomorrow with Make the Road Action PA. There are still opportunities to call and text voters -- check out our calendar of suggested events here. [[link removed]]

• Be prepared to take to the streets or the phones to Protect the Results. Sign up here [[link removed]] to get updates about how to take action and RSVP here [[link removed]] to join fellow New Yorkers in the streets on Wednesday afternoon/evening.

• Join us Thursday evening for our “No Matter What” Town Hall in community with leaders who are keeping up the fight. RSVP now to join me, Jumaane Williams, and visionary organizers Ady Barkan, Nelini Stamp, Sochie Nnaemeka, Linda Sarsour, and AnaMaria Archila on Thursday to process the election and prepare for the fights ahead. In the best-case scenario, we’ll see a decisive victory for Biden and a Democratic Senate tomorrow night -- and we can begin organizing to ensure that the Biden/Harris administration has the courage and momentum to enact bold, progressive change.

Of course, we may still be waiting for absentee ballots to be counted. No matter what Trump says, and no matter what you see posted online, it’s critical that we count every vote.

Either way, we will meet together on Thursday to regroup and get ready for the next phase of this fight. RSVP to our post-election gathering now >> [[link removed]]
