Hey, it’s Jamilla.

Tomorrow is Election Day and our chance to elect my dad, Mike Espy, to represent Mississippi in the U.S. Senate.

Can you rush a contribution of $10 or more to help Get Out the Vote in the last 24 hours of our neck-and-neck race? [[link removed]]

This campaign has been a real family affair, and it’s not the first time I’ve had the honor to witness my dad run for office to make a difference for the state he loves.

Here’s a throwback to me and my brother Mikey, back when our dad was running for re-election to Congress in the 80s.

And here’s a photo of me, Mikey, and my dad yesterday at a motorcade through Alcorn State University, one of Mississippi’s fantastic HBCUs.

As you can see, a lot has changed over the years since my brother and I grew up in Mississippi. I never thought I’d see the Mississippi flag with the Confederate emblem come down — yet that's what we came together to do over the summer. And I never thought I’d see that kind of energy among Mississippi voters to elect Mike Espy and Mississippi Democrats up and down the ballot. People are fired up to move our state forward.

One of the best parts about watching my dad run for U.S. Senate in 2020 is seeing it through the eyes of my 3-year-old son, Ryan. Every time Ryan sees his “GP” on MSNBC, or on our bus, his eyes light up. I will never forget it.

For too long, Mississippi has been last in health care, education, and economic opportunities. It’s why a lot of young folks move out of state, and too often the state gets a bad rap or completely overlooked.

My dad is fighting to change that for young people like my son. He’s already made history and improved the Magnolia State as Mississippi’s first Black U.S. congressman since Reconstruction, the very first Black U.S. secretary of agriculture, and as an executive member of multiple non-profit organizations dedicated to lifting up Mississippi’s most vulnerable.

When he sets his mind on something, my dad puts in the work and gives it his all to make it happen. He has done so in Washington before, and I know he can and will do it again as Mississippi’s next U.S. senator. But not without your help.

Mississippi needs my dad’s leadership now more than ever. I know he’ll give it his all and do whatever it takes to move this state forward and ensure it’s no longer last. That’s who my dad is.

Tomorrow is our chance. With just hours to go until the polls open, we’re counting on supporters like you to help keep up our Get Out the Vote efforts until the very end.

So — for Mississippi, for our country, and for our young people like my son Ryan, will you rush a donation of $10 or more to help elect my dad, Mike Espy, to be Mississippi’s next senator tomorrow? [[link removed]]
