PFLAG Connects

Dear John:

We've already made history with the number of early votes cast, and tomorrow will likely break records as well. If you haven't already voted early or absentee, we hope you've made your #2020voteplan to get your ballot in tomorrow.

We'd love to see and hear more about your voting process, so Tweet or Instagram a photo to us at @pflag using #PFLAGVotes and #Vote. Let's raise our PFLAG voices by casting our votes!

Now, let's look at some ways to really connect during the (likely stressful) week ahead.

It's a great time to join a PFLAG Connects meeting

This has been a rough year, and the next few weeks are gearing up to be some of the toughest yet. With an election already underway, the need for patience as all votes are counted, and two major Supreme Court cases coming up, we could all use a little support, and a safe space to bring our feelings.

This is a great time to check in with your local chapter and attend a PFLAG Connects virtual meeting. Not sure when your chapter is meeting? Find your chapter at pflag.org/find and get in touch. Or feel free to reach out to the Chapter Engagement Coordinator for your state, who can help point you to a meeting that works for your schedule, no matter where you're located across the country.

Take care of yourselves and the people you love, with the support of PFLAG and PFLAG Connects.

Three Steps to Being a Better Voter Protection Advocate (While You’re Stuck at Home)

Just because you’re staying in, and times are tough, doesn’t mean you can't help protect the vote. So stay safe and take these three steps to engage.

  1. Learn: Take the time to learn more about voter suppression, intimidation, and disenfranchisement and what you can do about it. Read Block the Vote: Voter Suppression in 2020 and Purges: A Growing Threat to the Right to Vote to get started.
  2. Watch: Watch this video from Now This News titled How Your Vote Might Be Blocked in 2020 and be sure to check So It's Election Day: What to Do If You Run Into Issues, a great short video from PFLAG Academy Online.
  3. Share: Use emails, texts, and social media to share voter protection resources. All of them can be found on our Voter Protection resource page: pflag.org/blog/voterprotection.

#OurDayInCourt: Fulton Virtual Town Hall

On Wednesday, November 4th, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear Fulton v City of Philadelphia; a case that could provide private agencies that receive public funds a right to discriminate against LGBTQ+ people, people of any faith or no faith, unmarried people, previously divorced people, and more. This case is critical to our community, and we are proud to co-sponsor a Virtual Town Hall that evening to break everything down for you, featuring a panel of great legal minds and moderated by our own Laura McGinnis. (We’ll even send you the recording if you miss it!)

RSVP at OurDayInCourt.org today to join us!
