NCR Election Coverage All Week ‌ Greetings, We are now just one day from what may be the most consequential election of our lifetimes--and Catholic voters will be watched and analyzed like never before. If you’re looking for the Catholic angle on the election and its aftermath, NCR has you covered with a week of special coverage. And if you’re anxious or worried, you can find a community to engage with on our website and on our social media channels. On Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3, we will be hosting a live blog of news reports and analysis throughout the day and evening. Look for it at ncronline.org’s homepage, or with the hashtag #CatholicsVote2020 on social media. Today we launch a special series of columns that seek to make sense of where we, as a country and as a church, can go from here. The daily line-up in our “What now?: Our church and country after Election 2020” series includes: Monday 11/2: Bishop John Stowe Tuesday 11/3: Joan Chittister Wednesday 11/4: Dan Horan Thursday 11/5: Olga Segura Friday 11/6: Michael Sean Winters All five of these essays will also be featured in our Nov. 13 print edition. And if you’d like to take a break from television news coverage, we are offering four multimedia opportunities to hear from Catholic commentators: A special election edition of the Francis Effect podcast (posted to NCRonline.org as soon as it becomes available today); On Election Day, at 1:30 p.m. Central, a chance to hear from Sr. Joan Chittister, in conversation with former NCR executive editor Tom Roberts, on “Where do we go from here?” on NCR’s Facebook page (the video will also be posted on the website after the event); An Election Night roundtable from 7-9 p.m. Central, featuring executive editor Heidi Schlumpf and Theology en la Plaza columnist Miguel Diaz, in a Zoom video event co-sponsored by Commonweal magazine and Catholic Theological Union. Finally, an 11 a.m. Central day-after panel on Facebook dissecting what we know by Wednesday morning with Pulitzer Prize finalist Melinda Henneberger and our own Michael Sean Winters, moderated by Olga Segura. For months, the writers and editors at NCR have brought you breaking news and challenging commentary about the campaigns of Donald Trump and Joe Biden. Now that Election Day is almost here, we hope you’ll stick with us to get the latest and most comprehensive coverage about #CatholicVoters2020. I join you in prayer for a safe and peaceful Election Day.
