Vox Media: "With the appointment of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court, the legal battle over reproductive rights in the United States is likely to intensify quickly. There are currently 17 abortion-releates cases one step away from the Supreme Court. And now, with a 6-3 conservative majority on the Court, the future of Roe v. Wade -- the 1973 case which ruled that abortion is a constitutional right -- is more uncertain than ever."
According to the Guttmacher Institute, a pro-choice research organization, 10 states have passed laws post-Roe that would immediately ban all abortions: Arkansas, Idaho, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Dakota, South Dakota, Tennessee, and Utah.
And that's not including the nine states that have pre-Roe abortion bans in place: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Michigan, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.
That's millions of Americans who would lose the right to choose overnight.
Our best hope lies in the American public demanding that the right to choose be protected -- but right now, we don't have the mandate we need to push our officials in the right direction.
