Washington, D.C. (November 2, 2020) – The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's first annual "Threat Assessment" predicts surges in migration from outside the Western Hemisphere. Among those would be national security "threat actors", a likely reference, in part, to terrorist travelers who would stand a better chance of avoiding scrutiny by blending into a migrant surge. In the Center’s recent video, Senior National Security Fellow Todd Bensman discusses the factors which will likely drive the mass migration, including the impact of the election. Migrants will likely respond to Biden’s promises to significantly limit removals and detention, end Trump-era asylum initiatives, and prioritize an amnesty for the illegal immigrant community. There will be a "Biden Effect" on illegal migration.
