Women in Somalia lead dialogue about long-term solutions to displacement in 2019.

Women Leaders Promote Peace and Security Around the World

History shows us that women play a central role in creating peaceful, equal and prosperous societies.

Twenty years ago, UN Resolution 1325 acknowledged the disproportionate and unique impact of armed conflict on women and girls. Since its adoption, the issues facing humanity have evolved yet women and girls remain steadfast in their commitment to protect, rebuild and stabilize their communities.

IOM seeks to enhance the role of women and girls who today are boldly tackling a global pandemic while striving to uphold human rights, resolve conflict and address displacement.

Hear stories of resilience from women peacemakers in Somalia, Bangladesh and Colombia.
