10 years ago I was blown up by a bomb planted by terrorists in Afghanistan. I honestly thought I was going to spend the rest of my career in the Army, and when the loss of both of my legs cut that dream short, I was devastated.
That’s when my dad gave me advice that I’ll never forget. He told me that I couldn’t let my kids see me sitting on my butt, and I couldn’t let the best service I give to our nation be behind me.
From that day forward, I set my mind to recovering. I learned to walk again. I graduated from Harvard. And I ran to represent our community as a Republican Member of Congress.
Today I fight on a different kind of battlefield: a war fought with words and ideas instead of bombs and firearms. I feel a sense of duty to our nation to ensure that the values I fought to defend in the Army are defended just as steadfastly here at home.
Tomorrow voters have a clear choice: higher taxes vs. lower taxes, individual liberty vs. government mandates, and perhaps most fundamentally, capitalism vs. socialism.
I refuse to watch our country be destroyed from within after so many men and women have died so that we may continue to live free!
In order to ensure success tomorrow, my team has put together an aggressive Get Out The Vote plan that includes personally reaching out to more than 50,000 voters that haven’t yet cast their ballot. In order to do this, we need to raise another $7,825 before midnight tonight.
I know you are being bombarded with emails today, so this is the last request for financial support that I will make in this entire campaign:
Will you join me one last time to defend our beautiful, amazing nation?
