Twenty-five years ago, Joe Biden led the charge to make our country safer for women by authoring and passing the landmark Violence Against Women Act.

VAWA provides critical funding for clinics, shelters, and programs that support survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and needs Congress' authorization every few years to continue.

But here's the thing: VAWA authorization lapsed around seven months ago, and Mitch McConnell refuses to bring a bill to reauthorize it to the Senate floor.

Millions of people's lives could be in danger if we don't fight back now. So, will you stand up for survivors of sexual violence and demand that McConnell reauthorize VAWA?

Since VAWA became law in 1994, rates of domestic abuse have declined significantly -- but there is still more work to do.

As many as 1 in 3 women in the U.S. have experienced physical or sexual violence at some point -- and the rate is even higher for women of color, lesbian and bisexual women, and transgender people.

And Joe Biden has played a critical role in building on VAWA to ensure that especially vulnerable communities -- from Native women to undocumented immigrants to LGBTQ individuals -- are included in the Act.

But if we leave it up to Mitch McConnell, this could be the end of VAWA as we know it.
