Were you watching the Democratic debate last week? If you were watching it on a Sinclair affiliate, then you probably saw the outrageous anti-AOC ad paid for by a propagandic right-wing PAC.

In that ad, they burned a photo of AOC — a brazenly disrespectful move meant to fan the flames of hatred that she already experiences on a daily basis. That is not what America is, and it’s not something that we’ll stand for.

This is not how a healthy democracy functions. We need to take the discourse back to the issues that matter to working-class Americans: Medicare for All, a $15 minimum wage, bringing jobs back to communities that have been left behind, powerful action on climate, and so much more.

AOC is fighting to do just that. I’m fighting to do that. The progressive community at large is fighting to do that. And we’re not going to let these partisan firebrands stop us from doing it.

America deserves better. Let’s deliver on our promises, and build a better future together.
