With a little more than 24 hours to go, key state polls tightening, and
Republicans doing all they can to undermine the integrity of the
election, we are still $16,000 short of our final fundraising goal
before the end of this all-important election.

So as we approach this crucial deadline, I want to share with you what
happens if we fall short.

As a nonprofit news outlet, we have no secret backup source of funding.
We don't take corporate advertising or charge our readers a subscription
fee. It's just you, our readers, chipping in to keep our non-corporate
progressive journalism alive.

In other words, without your support, there'd be no money to pay the
journalists to ask the hard questions or to keep our website up and
running. We'd simply cease to exist.

And then, when Trump and his enablers start tossing out mail-in ballots
to overturn the results of the election, who will hold them accountable?
The ratings-obsessed corporate news media that got us into this mess in
the first place? Fat chance.
