As a voter, you have rights.

John,

Tuesday is the last day to vote, and millions of Americans are expected to show up and make their voices heard.

That’s why it’s so important to know your rights before you head to the polls on Election Day.

  • If you are in line when the polls are scheduled to close, stay in line -- you have the right to cast your ballot.
  • If you make a mistake on your ballot, you have the right to ask for a new one so you can ensure you cast a vote for the elected officials you want.
  • If your polling place is having trouble with their machines, you can ask for a paper ballot.
  • If anyone tries to question your citizenship, criminal record, eligibility, or questions you in any other way, immediately call the Election Protection Hotline at 866-OUR-VOTE. Trained volunteers are waiting at the phones to ensure you can safely and securely vote.
  • If you face any other problems before or on Election Day and are not sure what to do, speak to qualified volunteers at the Election Protection Hotline.
