Hey there, check out this alarming headline from The Boston Globe this week:
With just days until election day — it’s we’re seeing increasing levels of disinformation used to subjugate, disenfranchise, and undermine vulnerable communities and communities of color. I’m sure, like me, you’ve had one of your family members text you a meme they got off Facebook from some random person that was clearly photoshopped or has purposefully misleading information on it, 100% convinced it’s the truth.
Now more than ever, bad actors are trying to keep us and our families civically disengaged. It’s a real problem, and we decided that we had to do something about it.
That’s why we launched our innovative Reclaim the Web Campaign back in September. We’re using social media and Whatsapp to create an easy way to help our members counter information manipulation targeting immigrant and Latinx communities.
Reclaim the Web is an online community helping folks counter lies and false narratives they hear in their everyday life. With the content we’re putting out, we want to help people of all backgrounds recognize disinformation and learn how to fight it.
This is an effective tool that we’ve already seen work in just the few weeks we’ve been up and running, so today I’m reaching out to ask for your help to keep it going.
Will you donate to UWDA PAC to help us grow and scale our fight against disinformation and false narratives? With just days to go before polls close we’re anticipating a flood of new voter suppression and disinformation tactics to hit our communities, and your donation of any amount today is a critical piece of our defense strategy.
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
Disinformation could play a massive role in the 2020 election. But we’re to protect our communities.
Thanks for helping to support this really critical program with a donation of any amount today if you can. We couldn’t do any of this important work without you.
