In a moment I'm going to ask you to make a grassroots donation to help us reach our end-of-month fundraising goal. But before I do that, I want to take a moment to explain why your support is so important.
Most of my colleagues in Congress are very familiar with "call time" -- basically, spending hours each day calling wealthy donors to ask for money. Because of our broken campaign finance system, it's a necessary evil to ensure we can stay in Congress and continue our work.
But the more time we spend on the phone with donors, the less time we're spending doing the job we were elected to do -- fighting for working folks and families, and writing laws to make our country better, stronger, and more just.
That's why deadlines like this one matter so much. If we can reach our goal by the end of the month, we'll have a steady base of funds to rely on and I can spend my time connecting with New Mexicans, supporting the candidates who will move our state forward, and advocating for the issues you care about.
