Visualizing the Representation Gap
Imagine that you’re a resident of Wyoming and you decide to move to California. In a well-functioning democracy, this wouldn’t lead to an orders of magnitude decrease in your voting power. But in the U.S., it does.

This move alone would decrease your representation in the Electoral College to 27 percent of its original value, and your representation in the Senate to just 1.5 percent of its original value.

Voters Support Deficit Spending When Tied to Material Benefits
If Joe Biden wins the presidency, he should add to the national debt. The economics are clear, and the human need for more spending to save our economy and climate is even clearer.

In general, many voters can be cautious about expanding the debt. But are they willing to accept increases to the debt if it allows the government to spend more on priorities like healthcare, infrastructure, and education? Our polling finds that they do ([link removed]) . A majority of voters — 53 percent — prefer spending more even if it increases the debt, while only 39 percent prioritize the debt.

* Biden Leading in Texas, Jaime Harrison TIED in South Carolina: Democrats have a real shot to flip Texas blue — our latest polling ([link removed]) , released Monday, shows Joe Biden with a one point edge in the Lone Star State. Perhaps even more importantly, a new South Carolina Senate poll ([link removed]) released on Tuesday found Jaime Harrison tied with Republican incumbent Lindsey Graham!
We also released ([link removed]) a new poll for Puerto Rico’s Resident Commissioner race! Although we find Jennifer Gonzalez with a 12-point lead over the next closest candidate, Anibal Acevedo Vilá, we show that Gonzalez’s endorsement of President Trump could damage her favorability.

* Trump’s “Fossil Fuel Voters” Are a Myth: Trump has been repeatedly attacking the Green New Deal with lies — but even some Republicans aren’t buying them.
In a recent poll ([link removed]) , we asked respondents whether they viewed Joe Biden’s climate plan as a $2 trillion proposal to create good-paying jobs and build clean infrastructure, or as a plan to “take away hamburgers and airplanes” and “take nice windows and make them tiny.” Yes, American politics has gotten to the point where we had to ask this.
We found that a majority of voters — 61 percent, including 35 percent of Republicans — found the factually-accurate statement most persuasive, while only a small minority agreed with the deceptive Trumpian statement.
