Friend, we're now down to the last few critical days and I want to share an update on the extraordinary work your support has enabled.
Even more important, I want to give you advance notice of what lies ahead.
Thanks to you and a record number of other Common Cause members, together we've mobilized an absolutely unprecedented Election Protection operation. That's no hyperbole. Literally tens of thousands of volunteers have dedicated their nights and weekends to making a difference for our democracy.
Even as I write this email our election efforts have been boosted even more by a last-minute surge of volunteers -- which will help assure we are able to assist as many voters as possible.
Some are serving in-person as safe, socially distanced Poll Monitors -- a friendly face to solve voters' problems, while keeping an eye out for any issues like long lines, machine malfunctions, or voter intimidation.
Thousands more are serving as team members in our Rapid Response voter outreach program. Their task: helping voters request and deliver their absentee ballots, or alerting them of changes to polling places and other voting issues.
PLUS... hundreds are using their social media prowess to watchdog the Internet so they can take action -- stopping disinformation targeted at suppressing voters while cutting through the noise with verified information from official sources.
This is the most massive mobilization in the 50-year history of Common Cause. We are pouring every dollar we can raise into this work because it's the most cost-effective way to help make sure EVERY eligible voter can cast their ballots and have them counted.
I'm writing this urgent message to you today because we need everyone to do their part to power this unprecedented, critically important Election Protection work before Nov. 3rd.
I realize we've been emailing you more than usual to ask for your financial support. But I also know you understand we wouldn't ask so urgently if it weren't absolutely necessary.
Frankly, Friend, I don't want either of us to look back one week from now and wish we could have done more.
No regrets. No "If only we could have fielded one more volunteer…" "If only we could have protected one more polling place..." "If only we'd have caught and exposed one more piece of voter-suppression disinformation..."
That is why I'm writing to urge that NOW -- today -- is the time for each of us to give it all we've got. We've heard from hundreds of new volunteers in just the past few days -- and I want to make sure we can put everyone who signs up to work. We're counting on you to make that possible -- like you always have.
I urge you to make your final Election Protection contribution of $3 or more before midnight tonight. You'll be having an immediate impact on thousands of 2020 voters.
It is clear that this year, more than most, the final hours of voting will make all the difference. Please do your part to make sure we're out there to protect the vote.
When all is said and done -- I know that no matter what happens, you and I can be proud of the work we did to defend our democracy. I can't tell you how much that means to me.
Thank you. In Common Cause,
Elena Nunez, Director of State Operations
