Gov. Gretchen Whitmer joins "Red, Blue, and Brady" for a special episode on armed insurrectionism and threats to our democracy.

"...[T]he whole world saw those pictures of Michigan with these armed protesters and wondered, 'What on earth is happening, that's allowed?'"

In an exclusive interview, we sat down with Gov. Whitmer to talk about extremism in America, Donald Trump, and the recently foiled plot to kidnap and likely execute her. She spoke powerfully about the path forward for our country, including our opportunity this Election Day to elect leaders who will guide us to a safer America.

Brady Gears up for the Election of a Lifetime

The moment we're all waiting for is finally here: Election Day. It's why Brady has invested more resources and has endorsed more candidates than any election before. Leading up to Election Day, our #VotingAccessSavesLives campaign has secured crucial voting reforms in states across the country to ensure all Americans can safely and securely cast their ballots.

While we've fought to ensure access to the ballot box, we've also endorsed nearly 200 gun violence prevention champions for office — the most in our organization's history. We've endorsed 55 candidates in state and local races, 142 in congressional races, and we were the first gun violence prevention organization to endorse Vice President Joe Biden for President of the United States.

Tell Ohio Legislators: Reject Deadly "Stand Your Ground" Laws!

John, so-called "Stand Your Ground" laws legally allow a person to use a firearm to shoot and kill another person anywhere, at any time. They've been used to justify the murders of Trayvon Martin and Ahmaud Arbery. Stand Your Ground is the law of the land in 25 states, and Ohio could be next. Lawmakers in Ohio are trying to sneak this legislation by — and they could vote on this dangerous bill as soon as next week. We need to hear your voice now!

Add your name now to tell Ohio Gov. DeWine that the entire nation is watching and we demand he REJECT this reckless legislation!

GUN VIOLENCE PREVENTION HERO OF THE WEEK

We thank Gov. Whitmer for her courageous leadership and moral conviction to fight for safer America in the face of armed extremism.
"Hate and bigotry don't have a place in Michigan or in the United States. We don't tolerate this, and we cannot let it become normal. We have to continue to call this out. And some have said, 'oh, you're so bold to call out the president,' [but] what is my option? To pretend it didn't happen, to paper over it, to laugh and act as though it's not serious? It is, and we deserve better and people of good faith needs to stand up and call it out. And elect good, decent people to office so that we can get back to a normal that keeps us safe."
