We've worked hard to explain the facts behind the persistent low quality of child care, the misappropriations of many state-funded college scholarship programs and the successes and failures of high schools trying to prepare their students for the 21st-century job market. For the second year in a row, we won national accolades for a signature investigation — last year's analysis of the re-segregation of public schools.

* We're considered a must-read. As one donor put it: "The Hechinger Report is the best source for quality, independent education reporting." And our topical newsletters, like Future of Learning, which goes out to leading education innovators across the country, are just as good as our daily fare.

I could keep going. Every day, we're determined to offer — jargon free — the most thoughtful, detailed and interesting examination of the education issues you care about most.

But we have to pay rent. We have to pay for computers, salaries and benefits for our talented journalists and our dedicated support staff. Please consider contributing if you'd like us to keep going.
