Friend —
I’ve said this is the most important election of our lifetimes for months — and you’ve all stepped up to that.
Over this election cycle, this team has proven time and time again how committed you are to making America a more progressive and equitable place for all. At GiveGreen, we raised over $42 million for Democratic candidates up and down the ballot, including over $8 million exclusively for our Senate candidates. We made thousands of calls to hold Congress accountable. We reached out to friends and family to check that they’re registered and ready to vote.
Thank you so much you’ve already done to protect our democracy. I could not be more proud to have you all on our team.
But the fight isn’t over yet. There’s just too much at stake to take this election for granted.
Time is running out to address the climate crisis. While climate scientists have established that we only have a few years to make long overdue changes, the Trump administration is not just denying science, but it is also overturning effective environmental protections to help corporations maximize their profits — all at the expense of people’s health and the environment. In contrast, the Biden-Harris campaign has drafted the most aggressive climate policy in our history that recognizes the urgency of the crisis; holds corporations accountable; creates millions of new, green jobs; revitalizes America’s infrastructure; and puts us on a path toward a sustainable future.
The Trump administration is actively emboldening white supremacists and endangering people of color. Mr. Trump made it perfectly clear in the first 2020 presidential debate when he did not denounce white supremacists that he is one of them. His administration deliberately separated immigrant children from their parents at the border; allowed mass COVID-19 outbreaks in ICE detention centers; and performed unnecessary and nonconsensual hysterectomies on immigrants. His appointees rolled back environmental regulations that protect low-income communities and communities of color from life-threatening pollutants. They gutted equal housing opportunity. They shot teargas and rubber bullets at peaceful Black Lives Matter protesters for a photo-op. Their policies range from racist to purely genocidal. We cannot let them completely eradicate the moral fabric of our nation.
We need real leadership to guide us out of the COVID-19 pandemic and this current economic crisis. The Trump administration has willfully endangered millions of Americans with their failure to act. Over 229,000 people have already lost their lives. Vice President Biden and Senator Kamala Harris have a comprehensive pandemic response that champions health experts’ recommendations and understands the economic struggle people are facing. He’s prepared to save American lives and our economy with a comprehensive plan to build back better, which will create jobs, invest in innovation, and put people first — not corporations.
Who sits on the Supreme Court is a justice issue. Mr. Trump has now appointed three Supreme Court Justices and more than 200 federal judges who will impact court proceedings for decades. These cases will determine our fundamental rights on the topics of abortion, voting, gerrymandering, discrimination, immigration, human rights, and so much more. When we elect progressives up and down the ballot, we’re electing the leaders who will nominate judges to uphold, not tear down, our rights.
If we want action on climate change, we must elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
If we care about racial equity, we must elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
If we want to recover from the pandemic, we must elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
I know we’ve already asked you for so much, and you have truly delivered. But we need to give it our all in these last days of the election.
Here are some actions you can take today:
We cannot have any regrets about our efforts this election because we cannot allow four more years of devastation. Take action to build a better future for all Americans.
Thank you,
Tom
