Statement from Austin Ruse, President of C-Fam

In a remarkable announcement today, the U.S. Agency for International Development says the U.S. government will actually enforce abortion restrictions on foreign assistance.

I do not believe any previous administration has ever worked to actually enforce Mexico City Policy, which forbids American money from going to groups that perform or promote abortions overseas.

Additionally, Mr. Barsa sent a scathing letter to the UN Secretary General informing him that U.S. money sent to the UN must be spent in accordance with U.S. law.

My colleagues and I at C-Fam salute Acting Administrator Barsa and his team who must have fought heroic internal battles to get this done. This is what leadership and principle are all about.
