Folks --

Don’t ever believe the talking heads on cable news who say we can’t pass universal background checks, ban high-capacity magazines, and outlaw assault weapons.

It’s a bunch of malarkey.

I’ve taken on the National Rifle Association and won -- twice.

In 1993, I helped pass the Brady background check bill, and in 1994, I worked with Senator Diane Feinstein to ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines for 10 years. These bills saved lives.

So listen, we can take on the NRA. We can win -- and we don’t have to wait until after the next election to make it happen. Democrats in the House have already passed legislation to require background checks on all gun sales. Now they are also taking up legislation to restore the ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.
