Dear Friend,
We, the religiously unaffiliated, matter. In the past ten years, the number of religiously unaffiliated Americans has grown exponentially, and now comprises a quarter of the nation’s population. One party is finally beginning to take note. If the other doesn’t, it could very likely be their death knell.
There is one sure fire way that we can keep that momentum going...VOTE. When we vote as a bloc, our voices are amplified, and it forces those politicians, and their parties who have traditionally ignored us, or even spoken out against us, to “check themselves”, and reconsider the value we bring to the table. While those who identify as “secular” come from across the demographic spectrum, traditionally, secular voters have overwhelmingly voted Democrat. There is no reason to expect any different result in this election, and our bloc may just be what makes the difference in 2020. The GOP should take note, and rethink their strategy of courting only the religious right, because it could very well cost them this year, and in future elections.
