Dear John,
Deanna was pregnant and full of fear. She sought information about abortion online which ultimately led her to reach out to Human Coalition’s life-affirming Contact Center. The kind and compassionate Human Coalition team member who answered the phone explained there was help available so that she could choose life for her baby.

As Deanna spoke with the Contact Center agent, the overwhelming heaviness she’d been feeling began to dissipate.
“When I spoke to the woman on the phone, she told me to just come in [to the Human Coalition women’s care clinic nearby]... All my friends told me to get rid of him [have an abortion].
"But here were these people, who didn’t know nothing about me. They just knew I was lost and needed love and prayer.”
When she first arrived at the clinic, Deanna braced herself for the judgement and harsh words she assumed the staff would express. As Deanna explained how she had taken precautions not to get pregnant again, she expected to hear all the negative things she had heard growing up.
But instead, the staff listened to her with love. They smiled and told Deanna that her baby was a blessing, and they were there to help.

“I felt so much love, [sense of] family, and excitement [from the clinic staff]… they were excited about my baby bump.
"I thought, y’all are happy about this? I wasn’t happy, but their happiness and hope rubbed off on me.
"They knew me by name and loved on me, and that’s what I needed because I was so scared.”
The staff connected Deanna to parenting classes, access to health insurance, and even job training opportunities, encouraging her and following up with her throughout her pregnancy.
“I was expecting to be shamed. But instead… [God said] I’m gonna shower you with women who love you and love baby bumps.”
Without supporters like you, Deanna would not have known there was help available to her. She wouldn’t have known that she could choose to parent her child.
