More Bad News for the Voice of America and Other Government-Funded International Broadcasters
Michael Pack, who heads the U.S. Agency for Global Media, just rescinded a rule that blocked him from getting involved in news and editorial decisions. This action raises fears that he is seeking to reshape VOA and its sister agencies into promotional arms for President Donald Trump, who appointed Pack. Observers see irony in the notion that the agencies—whose broadcasts are designed to counter foreign government’s official censorship and propaganda—will now be subject to censorship by a political appointee.
