This week, the New York Times covered our race again, reporting that “Trump’s Weakened Hold on Long Island Puts 2 G.O.P. House Seats [and Lee Zeldin] at Risk.”
The NYT says there are a few factors that could lead to our victory in NY-01.
1. Trump is deeply unpopular with voters.
2. Lee Zeldin has aligned himself with the president.
3. The number of Democrats on Long Island is growing rapidly.

For the past four years, we have seen our president and his loyal sycophants like Lee Zeldin put political gain over service to families. They have worked to destroy the Affordable Care Act without a plan to replace it in the middle of a pandemic and played politics with our public health data. As a scientist, I can no longer watch as Donald Trump and his allies deny the science and the advice of experts -- so on Tuesday, we will hold them accountable for their failures when we vote them out.
Our families across Suffolk County need leadership who will use facts, science, and reason to find evidence-based solutions to the problems we're facing today -- that's exactly why I took a leave of absence from my career at Stony Brook University to run for Congress.
This is one of the most competitive races in the country, and all eyes are on us to see if the people will reject the most anti-science and anti-American administration in our nation's history. Right now, the polling shows that this race is close, and that if we keep building on our efforts, we will win.
