The highest stakes election of our lifetime is next week -- and things are looking good for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
A recent analysis by FiveThirtyEight shows that Biden holds a 9-point lead over Donald Trump, and he is holding a slight edge in key states like Michigan and Wisconsin.
But Republican political consultant Dee Stewart has reminded us not to get too comfortable, claiming that “the tremendous voter registration gain by the Republicans is the secret weapon that will make the difference for the Republicans in 2020.” That’s because, according to The New York Times, Republicans have seen a spike in voter registration in Florida, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania -- and “heavy turnout by those new party members might just be enough to propel Mr. Trump to a second term.”
Six battleground states don’t report voter registration by party, and we can’t afford a surprise Trump victory on Election Day. We know that we will need an overwhelming voter turnout to block Trump’s attempts to steal this election.
