We met weeks after I was shot down when I was recovering from the attack on my helicopter that took both my legs. But even back then, when I was barely able to move, Dick Durbin never saw me as broken or someone to be pitied. Instead he saw someone who was searching for another way to serve our nation and he encouraged me to run for Congress. I will always be grateful to him for that.

So now, I want to do everything I can to help him win reelection on November 3rd so he can stay in the Senate working on behalf of Illinois families.
