Dear John,
There are just a few days left before Election Day, and voters are making their voices heard loud and clear. Millions of voters have already voted by mail, dropped off their ballots, or voted early in-person. Millions more will go to the polls on Tuesday to cast their ballots and determine this country’s future.
As a result of the ongoing pandemic, millions chose to cast their votes by mail safely, and in states across the country, mail-in ballots are the last to be counted. Given the sheer volume of mail-in votes and the potential for record overall turnout, it’s going to take some time to count every ballot. But rest assured, the ballots will be counted.
Politicians like Donald Trump have spent months calling the validity of our democratic process into question, especially the casting and counting of mail-in ballots. No matter what politicians or pundits say or attempt to do, every vote will be counted.
The United States has always held elections and upheld a peaceful transfer of power, even times of great crisis like the Civil War, Great Depression, and both World Wars. Now, it's our turn to prove that nothing will stand in the way of counting every vote and delivering our democracy.
We will work to ensure a fair process that respects our shared values. It’s why Jobs With Justice has partnered with groups like Protect The Results. More than 130 organizations across the country have joined together with one goal in mind: ensuring the integrity of our democratic process and the peaceful transition of power.
If Trump attempts to declare himself the winner before the votes are counted, uses the courts to stop ballot counting, or denies clear election results, Protect The Results is prepared to activate nationwide mobilizations on Wednesday, November 4.
Organizations and activists have already pre-scheduled events in cities, towns, and communities around the country. Please visit the Protect The Results website to find an event near you—or sign-up to host an event in your community.
We cannot continue the crucial work of standing up for working people—Black, white, and brown alike—if we don’t have a democracy. So please, join Jobs With Justice as we prepare to protect the results and ensure very ballot is counted.

Thank you for everything you do—especially in times of crisis. If you’re eligible and haven’t yet voted, please make a plan and do so. Democracy thrives when we, the people have our collective voices heard.
In Solidarity,
Joel
