No end in sight.

Dear LIRS Supporter,
Two years ago, we watched in horror as children were ripped from their parents’ arms and locked into cages. The disturbing actions at the border caused massive public outrage, and politicians from both sides of the aisle called for it to end.
But for the 545 children still separated from their parents, the nightmare was far from over.
We’re fighting for the rights of these children, but we could really use your help. Will you advocate for children who’ve been robbed of their right to grow up with their parents, as well as thousands of other immigrants and refugees, by giving to LIRS today?
When the crisis began, LIRS was called to help reunify families — including one pregnant mother separated from her 11-month-old baby. When she was released, she had no idea where to find her child.
Fortunately, because of people like you, we were able to reunite her with her baby and help with food, diapers, and temporary housing. She was so thankful for the support that she named her newborn daughter after a staff person who walked with her through this harrowing ordeal.
But for the children left behind who are saying their first words, taking their first steps, and growing up without their parents, we must act now. We must demand that our government reunite these families immediately and grant them legal status.
Your gift today will support our advocacy and reunification efforts. It will also help detainees after they are released — making sure they have clothes, shelter, transportation, and more. By giving to LIRS, you’ll be welcoming the stranger with open arms and standing up for basic decency and core American values.
Please make a generous donation to LIRS right now. Give whatever you can — any amount truly helps.
Separated children are scared, traumatized, and alone. Night after night, they go to bed wondering if they’ll ever see their parents again. Please stand with them and all newcomers by supporting LIRS with a generous gift today.
Sincerely,
Krish O’Mara Vignarajah President and CEO
P.S. Earlier this week, I submitted an op-ed to the Baltimore Sun newspaper because we simply cannot remain silent.
I'd love for you to read it. |
