In October, the UN Security Council marked two decades since its adoption of the landmark resolution 1325, which for the first time enshrined the essential role of women in securing and maintaining peace. Yet today, as 2 billion people across the world struggle to survive in areas afflicted by armed conflict in the midst of a global pandemic, women continue to be largely excluded from formal peace processes and post-conflict power structures.
