Dear Friends,
I am pleased to share Art in Action's 2019-2020 Annual Report.Thank you for your generous contributions during a year of unique challenges. Your unwavering support allowed us to adapt swiftly and continue to positively impact the communities we serve.
"During a crisis, the arts are called upon to provide 3 things-
Connectivity, Communication, and Hope."
In recent articles posted by Californians for the Arts, arts agencies were named "second responders" during the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting the importance of arts in healing and helping people cope with upheaval and uncertainty. As the new school year begins to take shape, Art in Action has committed to double down on our efforts to assure some degree of normalcy, stability, and comfort by providing programming and support to schools, teachers, and students during these unsettling times.
This commitment led to the design and launch of the Studio Series program. The program, inspired by brainstorming sessions with teachers and docents, is designed for flexibility, household socio-economic realities, and alignment with the National Visual Arts Standards. Looking ahead, Art in Action is "leaning in" by developing new STEAM and Healing Through Arts lesson lines, responsive to the needs of our communities.
For 38 years, Art in Action has empowered students through visual arts education; providing opportunities that fine-tune a child's life skills such as creativity, empathy, open-mindedness, resiliency, and self-confidence. We are determined to continue this mission in 2020-2021 and beyond, and look forward to partnering with you to ensure that every child has access to quality arts education.
With sincere appreciation, Mary Carbullido
Executive Director
