More than 80% of Arab American voters, folks just like you, plan to vote! To help you in making a plan to vote, I’ve clipped tips on combating Election Day disinformation.

With four days to go until November 3, I want to share resources to help you plan your vote if you haven’t already.

First, I am delighted to share that more than 80% of Arab American voters, folks just like you, plan to vote in this election. That comes straight from a poll AAI just released which is linked below. I hope you take as much pride as I do in this level of turnout and will continue to encourage your family and friends to #YallaVote! If you or anyone you know needs help making a plan to vote, call our 24-hour English/Arabic Election Protection hotline, 844-YALLA-US

Second, AAI is partnering with some amazing civil rights and civil liberties groups to make sure your right to vote is secure and that you can do so safely. To get the word out, we hosted some of these partners on a community call. They had great advice and if you didn’t have time to watch the full session, I’ve clipped some key tips for you below, which cover Election Day disinformation, how to check if your absentee ballot was received, and monitoring election disinformation on social media.

Third, you can be part of AAI’s effort to monitor election disinformation. If you’re interested in joining this effort, fill out this form and help make a difference this Election Day!

Making a plan to vote is almost as easy as 1, 2, 3 but, with COVID, it could get a little tricky. So, we’re here to help you. If you need any assistance, or want to encourage others to vote you can! Use the resources below or call the AAI YallaVote hotline at 844-YALLA-US and #YallaVote!

Maya's Tips & Resources for Election Day

AAI poll finds more than 80% of Arab Americans say they are very likely to vote this year. 52% of Democrats say they are voting early or by mail, while 62% of Republicans will vote in person on Nov. 3. 40% of Arab Americans say their top concern this election is deteriorating race relations, followed by the economy (23%). If you ‘hear’ or ‘see’ someone claiming a major power outage, roadblock, or other disruption in your area, check with an official source. DO NOT rely on social media accounts. Former DHS official and leading national security expert Juliette Kayyem cautions against Election Day/Nov. 3 disinformation attempts. Hear Juliette’s advice, click here.

Check your ballot’s status and take action if there are any issues. If you’ve voted absentee and want to make sure your ballot was received, Pooja Chaudhuri from the Voting Rights Project at Lawyers’ Committee on Civil Rights Under Law shares how you can check if your ballot was received. You can also call 844-YALLA-US for help. Get Pooja’s guidance on checking your ballot status by clicking here

AAI has partnered with a campaign to monitor and report disinformation designed to interfere with voter rights. You can hear all about it from Marilyn Carpinteyro, Vice President of Programs and Strategy at Common Cause. Marilyn explains disinformation monitoring, click here
