There's no way to sugarcoat the events of this week: Amy Coney Barrett's confirmation to the Supreme Court poses a monumental threat to Roe v. Wade.

If Roe is overturned in the next couple of years, abortion rights will be left up to the states. Now, more than ever, we need to make sure Democrats flip -- and hold -- control of as many state legislatures as possible.

Now that Republicans have the conservative-majority Court they need to overturn Roe, our best chance to protect abortion access for as many people as possible is to invest in down-ballot races all across the country. If we lose the national protection for abortion codified in Roe, we will need as many pro-choice Democratic women as possible in power at the state and local level.
