I’ll be upfront with you, team.

I’m writing because I need your help to compete with John Cornyn and WIN next November. I know Election Day is over a year away, but give me just a minute, and I’ll explain why pitching in now is so important.

Senator Cornyn has already aired the first TV ads of the race, thanks to the $9 million war chest he amassed with the help of corporate PACs and special interest donors. This race is already picking up, and it’s clear it’s going to be a long and expensive one. We’ve got to be ready to fight back.

But here’s the deal: I don’t have any corporate PACs boosting my campaign. I’m relying on grassroots support because I plan to be accountable to Texans, not the special interests.

And that means I can’t win this race without you. As we get closer to the election, folks will look to the amount of money we’ve raised to measure how good of a chance we stand to win next November.
