Next week marks the start of November and with Equal Pay Day and our annual conference, it is set to be a busy month. While we prepare for what's ahead, this week we also want to reflect on the month that has passed and some of the great things we've been up to.
AGM and Make Women Visible Event
It's coming up to our AGM - an important moment in the Fawcett calendar year - which is being held on Thursday 26 November. While the AGM is limited to members only (click here to find out more about becoming a member), we will also be holding an event that is open to everyone. The theme of this year is Make Women Visible as we continue to confront the inequalities that the Coronavirus pandemic is creating and ask what this means for the future. The event will be held online from 6pm - 7.30pm and we will explore how we can make a gender equal future for women and girls.
Polly Neate, CEO of Shelter and Trustee of the Young Women's Trust, and Wendy Irwin, Head of Equality and Diversity at the Royal College of Nurses will be speaking on the Build Back Better panel which will be chaired by our very own Ayesha Hazarika.
We will be sharing more of our amazing speakers with you shortly. Make sure you click the button below to sign up.
October has been Black History Month and to mark it we have been celebrating the amazing work of Black Women in the UK. We heard from Martha, a domestic abuse outreach worker in Watford. She told us about her role and what she is proud of, and shared her reflections on the impact of Coronavirus on her work. We've also heard from MPs Helen Grant and Marsha de Cordova about their journeys to leadership, what their roles entail and what is giving them hope at this time.
We are looking for a Policy and Research Manager who has an analytical approach and can present complex information clearly. You'll have line-management responsibility and will represent Fawcett externally on a number of policy areas. Apply by Monday 16th November.
We are also looking for a Senior Policy and Public Affairs Officer. If you can show political sensitivity and awareness, engage a large number of stakeholders and present arguments and clearly communicate information then apply by Monday 23rd November.
In solidarity and determination, The Fawcett Society Team
