This week, the House Judiciary Committee led by Democrats passed three brand new gun safety bills after returning from their August recess, sending them to the House floor for a vote.

Here’s a closer look at what they passed:

1. They passed an extreme risk protection order bill that would enable a court to intervene and temporarily prevent someone who is in crisis from having access to a firearm.
2. They passed a bill that bans high-capacity magazines.
3. They passed a bill that would prevent people convicted of misdemeanor hate crimes from possessing firearms.

These bills still need to be voted on by the full House before they can advance to the Senate.

But you can bet that when they do, Mitch McConnell will do everything he can to block them. And that’s where you come in:
