Part 1: Let this Transform You
------------------------------------------------------------
** This Friday, October 30, 2020
6 — 7:30PM
------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Friend,
Tomorrow, we will remember the history of the anti-violence movement--the shoulders we stand on, the struggles we overcame, the lessons we’ve learned--and the reckoning and opportunities we are currently faced with. Our challenge is to use this moment to transform us. To reimagine new ways of approaching current issues and to collectively transform our world through the power of storytelling and song with the help of Thalma de Freitas, who is a mother, Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter, spiritual activist, and performer.
In the spirit of transformation, Thalma will be opening our first Evening Over Violence virtual event with a specially curated performance of “DiscoCanto,” which are vocal interventions over songs, experimenting harmonies, rhythms, and spoken words. With her powerful performance, she will express her views on transformation, with stories intertwined in song and sounds relevant and reflective of our current times.
This is the second time Thalma has joined POV, as she was the featured performer for our Evening Over Violence event in 2016. We are excited to have her grace our (virtual) stage once more and to share with us her gifts. We hope you can join us in bearing witness.
