Dear Jack
Today, the
Electoral Commission announced the preliminary result for the End of
Life Choice Act referendum.
The result is:
Yes: 65.2%
No: 33.8%
The special votes are still to come, but we can be
confident that this is a resounding victory.
It is a victory
for all New Zealand as we become a more compassionate and humane
society. Thousands of New Zealanders who might have suffered
excruciating deaths will have choice, dignity, control, and autonomy
over their own bodies, protected by the rule of law.
It is also
a victory for ACT. If our party stands for one thing, it is freedom
under the law. Today’s result shows what one ACT MP, assisted by our
now Deputy Leader and MP-elect Brooke van Velden, can
achieve.
This term, we have ten ACT MPs. They are already
working hard every day to make sure ACT keeps growing. We have a lot
to do for this country to reach its potential, and today shows one
no-so-little-anymore party has the power to do it.
Yours
sincerely,
David Seymour MP for Epsom ACT Leader
